**There are Ten (10) Points Categories plus One Prize Category to enter. Their descriptions follow: U.S. COIN: A U.S. minted legal tender coin of any denomination. It must be a minimum of 40 years old unless it is a half-dollar or dollar coin. FOREIGN COIN: Any foreign legal tender coin. TOKEN: A trade or “Good For” coin that had/has some value in trade, such as an arcade token, transit token or “good for one cigar” type of token or any advertising or good luck tokens. Note: This category does not include President tokens, heads or tails tokens, advertising pins, buttons or souvenir type pennies. JEWELRY-GOLD OR PLATINUM: Gold must be marked 8K or greater. All gold or platinum must be marked or have a jewelers certification. No gold-filled, gold overlay or any kind of gold plate, are allowed in this category. Gold Nuggets are Allowed in this category. SILVER ITEM: Any item made from silver except coins. It must be marked as 0.925, sterling, silver, or have a certification that the item is silver. JEWELRY: Any item worn for adornment. (note: please enter any gold or platinum jewelry AND any silver jewelry in its category.) ARTIFACT: Any man-made artifact that does not all ready have a category, including: arrowheads, bottles, buttons, marbles, utensils, toys, fair pins, fobs, etc. DISPLAY: All, or any part of, the finds you have made during the current detecting and searching month. OLDEST U.S. COIN: Any U.S. minted legal tender coin that is at least 40 years old. MOST VALUABLE U.S. COIN: Any U.S. minted legal tender coin. The value of all entries will be based on the current edition of “The Official Blackbook Price Guide of United States Type Coins” using the ABP (Average Buy Price) value. Entries must have a minimum of $1.00 ABP. NOTE: There will not be any grading of the entries. ITEM OF THE MONTH: Dick and Bill are donating a first place prize of a Standing Liberty Quarter to the winner of this category each month (January-November). The eleven winning items will then be displayed at the Christmas party and voted on for the Item of the Year. The winner will receive a Silver Dollar. Anything can be entered into this category EXCEPT Coins, Tokens and Jewelry. Voting will be for First place only, so vote for the item you think is the neatest or best. This is a non-points category that will not count towards DOTY, but it is a fun bonus category donated by Dick and Bill. Remember, it is the entrant’s responsibility to complete an entry form and properly described each entry. Also, to make sure their entries are submitted to the committee prior to the meeting’s call-to-order. All absentee entries will be allowed. It is the member’s responsibility to have a properly filled out form and arrange for the entries to be at the meeting before the meetings call-to-order. Members who have paid their annual membership dues deserve the right to participate in as many OTTS functions as possible, even if they have a work schedule or other conflict that might prevent them from attending a regular meeting. If you need to make an absentee entry, please try to contact a FOTM committee member ahead of time. There will be copies of the entry form at the FOTM table at meetings and on the web site.
