Over the years, many of our club members have made the trip to England on the Jimmy Sierra trips or on their own, to experience the excitement of detecting fields and sites with over 2000 years of history. Here are some of the finds and their stories.

Mary found this gold ring on one of her and Jim's trips across the pond. It was a 15th Century noble's ring that probably held an emerald, the stone was missing when it was found.

This is an 1816 George III Schilling that Jim found in the fields on a Jimmy Sierra trip in August of 2003. He was using his White's XLT.

Chris found this 1376 gold Noble in the fields of England. He was using his White's XLT when he came across the coin all balled up. He didn't know what it was until he unfolded it.

This is a Domition Silver Denarius minted between 81 and 96 AD that Jim found using his White's XLT in the fields on a Jimmy Sierra trip in August of 1999. The obverse shows Minera advancing brandishing a javelin.

This is another of Jim's finds from an England trip in August of 1995. It is a 1285 Edward I, Long Cross, hammered silver penny from the Bristol mint. He found it using a White's XLT.

Don found this coin during one of his many trips to England, this one in September of 1999. It is a gold Celtic Kentish type 1/4 Stater minted in approximately 40 BC. When it was found, it was one of 5 known examples.

Jim found this artifact on a trip in August of 1996 using his White's XLT. It measures about 1/2" X 1/2" and is a lead Roman Curse Roll. You would put one of these on your enemy's land to give bad luck or crop
failure. If unrolled, the curse would pass on to the opener.

This is a 9th Century Saxon Buckle that Jim found using his White's XLT. This was brought back on a trip in August of 2001. Saxon items are not very common to find there.

This coin was found by Mary on the same trip Jim found the Roman Curse Roll in August of 1996. She was using a White's Classic IDX to find this 1580 Elizabeth I hammmered silver Sixpence.

Don found this cast copper alloy seal matrix on his 2001 trip. It is from the 14th or 15th century and is the seal for Laurenc(II) de Fordham which is Don's family name with the English spelling. Way to find family heirlooms with you White's XLT!

This is a very nicely preserved Denarius minted in Rome circa 79-81 AD. On the Obverse is Titus and the Reverse has Rx Dolphine wrapped around an anchor.

This is a silver penny minted at the Canterbury Mint England under the reign of Edward I circa 1272-1307.

Don eyeballed this wonderful find. It is an Axe Head that has been dated to 500000 BC. That is by far the oldest man made item found by a member of our club.

This was found by Don in 2003 with his White's XLT. It is a Faustina II Denarius minted in 145 AD. Faustina II was Marcus Aurelius's wife.

This is a discoidal Trade Weight. In the scan you can see the crowned lombardic "h" monogram for either Henry VII (1485-1509) or Henry VIII (1509-1547).

This is an Edward III (1327-1377) penny from the Canterbury mint England.

This penny (circa 1207-1211) from Ireland was minted by the Dublin moneyer Robero during the reign of King John.
