August's Club Member Outing by Tom Smith

The august outing was at Reed College in Portland and it was another wonderful morning to be out hunting for old things.

The find of the day was a 14K gold family seal ring found by Carl Middlebrook. Sterling rings were found by Mike Young, Chris Beniston, and myself and part of a silver bracelet by Mike Maxon. Chris Beniston found the oldest coin with an 1897 Barber dime. He also found 3 silver Roosevelt and 1 Mercury dimes. Mike Maloney found a Mercury dime, Bob Kosto found a silver Roosevelt dime and I found 2 silver Roosevelt and 1 Mercury dimes. James and JP McCarthy showed up for the hunt after seeing it scheduled on the OTTS web site. JP found a nice sterling ring, hopefully we will see them at the September meeting.

Mike Maloney won the membership drawing for a nice Peace Dollar. Greg Hubbard found one of the RAM nickels for a Walking Liberty Half-Dollar, the other RAM nickel was not found.Joe Lynskey dug up the most trash to take home the trash half. The Half-Dollars were donated by Dick Gaboury.
