Outing for July '03
by Tom Smith The July outing was at Leverich park in Vancouver, WA. It was another beautiful day for scanning the hard ground, but there were plenty of trees to keep the sun directly off the back and keep it a bit cooler.
There were two gold rings found during the day, a nice gold band by Mike Young and a small 10k ring with green stone found by Mike Maxon. Great job. There were also three sterling rings, two Mercury dimes and two Roosevelt dimes found. But Ruth Kosto made the find of the day by finding a small cache that was put there by a group of GPS people. Apparently, the club puts caches across the country for people to find, dig up, sign in and leave something behind before reburying it. Ruth signed in and returned it to its place after count out for someone else to find.
Jim Cornwall and Arnie Mauroni found the RAM nickels to take the halves and Greg Hubbard picked up the most trash for the trash half. The halves were donate by Dick Gaboury.
