Outing for October '03
[ Back to Monthly Outings History ]
by Tom Smith The October outing was at Arbor Lodge Park in North Portland. It was a cold and blustery winter day to be out detecting, but 23 brave souls came out to give the park a scan.
Todd Mullican made the find of the day by finding a nice patented 1875 lock that he recovered from the dirt under the bark chip in the playground. Other good finds were Steve Tuckers sterling ID bracelet, Chris Beniston and Bill Baker a Mercury dime each, Mike Maxon and Jim Ward each with a silver Roosevelt dime, Todd Mullican's war nickel and Tom Smith found a 1964-D quarter, a silver Roosevelt and a 1966 silver Canadian dime.
Mike Maloney won the membership attendance drawing and got a nice Morgan dollar. There were two RAM nickels planted in the park but alas none were found and the two halves stayed in Dick's pocket. Kelly McCartney recovered the most trash and took home a Walker Half for his trouble. Thanks to Dick Gaboury the trash Half.
