April '04
by Tom Smith Another beautiful Oregon spring morning was spent out finding the lost stuff new and old. We had 23 members come out to Creston Park to detect. I apologize for the short notice on the change of venue from Mt. Hood, but mother nature just did not cooperate this year. Some excellent finds were made by members on the outing, starting with Bill Baker finding a 1923-S Peace Dollar. He also found a 1964 Dime. Steve Tucker found a nice Plum 10K ring. Arnie Mauroni came up with a 1910-D Barber Quarter and a 1944-D dime. Dick Gaboury, George Parker, Mike Young and Robert Zbinden all found sterling jewelry. Mike Nanson found 1942-S and 1951-S dimes. Mike Young found a 1937-D dime and Dick Gaboury had a1906 Barber Dime and a 1941-S dime. All in all a lot of good stuff came out of Creston Park. Dick Gaboury gave away two Walking Liberty half-dollars. The first to the person who found the amount closest to $3.75 which was Robert Zbinden with $3.83. The second went to the person closest to 49 points for the hunt and Don Lieurance got the number at 49. Arnie Mauroni won the membership attendance drawing for a Morgan dollar.
