May 2004
by Tom Smith Eighteen club members came out on a cloudy Oregon morning to hunt a couple of Portland parks. Members had a choice of Dawson and/or Lillis-Albina Parks. The rain held of until after we counted out and a good time was had by all.
Steve Tucker again found a gold ring at the club outing. This one was a 10K 1973 Washington HS ladies class ring, that’s two in a row Steve. Other good finds were made by Jack Hipp, who found a 10K ring and a very interesting Mexican sterling head with tigers eye. He also found a 1906-D Barber dime, a 1924 Mercury dime and a 1944-S war nickel. Bill Baker had a sterling ring, Mike Nanson got a 1935-S dime, Tim Towsley got a 1952-D quarter, Clarence Sparks got two war nickels: 1945-D & 1945-S and I found an 1890 Indian head cent and a 1941-D dime.
This month William Parks donated a Silver Eagle to the person who came closet to $0.52 in change found during the outing. Mike Maloney was closet with $0.60. Mike also won the membership drawing for a nice 1890 silver dollar. Congratulations Mike!
